ANDREW GRAY, CANDIDATE FOR KANSAS GOVERNOR, SAYS HE HAS TWO WAYS TO WIN ELECTION

Andrew Gray, the Libertarian Candidate for Kansas Governor, says his team has two ways to win in November against opponents Sam Brownback, Tom Holland, and Ken Cannon.

First, Andrew Gray believes his team has a legitimate, yet outside, shot of becoming Kansas' first 3rd party governor in one hundred and ten years despite the fact that they are facing vast political connections and impressive Republican and Democrat Party war chests. Gray says, "We fully recognize we are huge underdogs in this election, yet our principles and platform reflect the values of most Kansans. That is why they are resonating so well with not only Independent voters but also Republicans and Democrats."

Andrew Gray says that even if they don't come out ahead on November 2nd, there is still another way they and the people of Kansas can win and permanently change the political landscape of Kansas. They explain that when their team wins just 5% or more of the state-wide vote for Governor, The Libertarian Party of Kansas will achieve major party status and gain full and unrestricted access to the election process, a privilege currently reserved for only Republican and Democratic candidates.

Stacey Davis, Lt. Governor Candidate, explains, "When our team wins just 5% or more of the state-wide vote, Kansans gain a third major political party. With a third major party, Kansans get more choices, better candidates, and an avenue for Kansans like Andrew and me to enter public service without becoming politicians or being beholden to either a party machine or the special interest groups that support those parties."

Why this year? Davis argues that it's because Kansans are paying attention and actively seeking a change from politics-as-usual. As proof he cites the Kansas Secretary of State data that shows the Libertarian Party was the fastest growing political party in Kansas in 2009. He points out that this growth happened despite the fact that Libertarians do not yet have access to the primary voting process. He says that many Kansas voters who identify strongly with Libertarian principles continue to register with one of the major parties to have access to the primaries. When the Libertarian Party gains major party status they too will be allowed to have primaries and he expects the number of registered Libertarians to skyrocket.

Gray puts it a bit more directly, "Kansans are beginning to understand that blaming either just the Republican or Democrat Party for the crisis we are facing just doesn't make sense. Kansans are paying attention. They understand that the two existing parties have shared power in Kansas for over a century, and they both have earned the blame for the mess we are in. It's time for change. It's time for common Kansans to have a seat at the table."

The team says that the run-away lead held by Brownback also makes gaining major party status easier this year. This year many Republican and Democrat voters see the huge poll lead that Brownback enjoys, and they understand that voting for either the Republican or Democrat candidate is a wasted vote with little chance of affecting the outcome of the election. Andrew Gray says that many of those voters are contacting him and saying that this year they are choosing to make their vote count by voting for him to create a third major party in Kansas.

Looks like this is going to be an exciting race after all, and Kansas might have more than one winner.
